This hawk-watching site is also known as The Tuscarora Summit and lies at the southern end of the Kittatinny Ridge corridor on Tuscarora Mountain. The site is at two hang glider ramps and is easily accessed with very little walking. Capital Area Hang Gliders and Maryland Hang Gliders own the site and allow the public to use the area for hawk watching. Parking is limited if a hang gliding activity is scheduled. Members of the Conococheague Audubon Society are usually available on fall weekends to help with identification.

Wind Factor:
Best hawk viewing with winds from the west, northwest, or southeast.
Directions:
From Interstate 81, take exit16/Chambersburg. Follow Route 30 west through Chambersburg. Pass the small town of Fort Loudon and drive an uphill and curving 4 miles to The Mountain House Bar and Grill on the left. Just before the restaurant, turn left and follow the dirt road past the restaurant. After about 300 yards, take the first turn right to the parking area. The dirt road is posted, do not go beyond the parking lot. Viewing is from the hang glider ramp area.
