The boulders of Waggoner's Gap host visitors daily from August through December. Hawk-watchers count in the neighborhood of 20,000 raptors each season. The Gap, chiseled by wind and time, provides a narrow outcrop of Tuscarora sandstone with phenomenal viewing to the north and south. Audubon Pennsylvania owns this site and encourages visitation. On weekends, education staff is present during peak migration (mid-September-October). A 10-minute hike from the parking lot to the outcrop up a rocky trail is well marked on rocks. A portable toilet is present August - December in the parking lot.

Wind Factor:
When winds are out of the south or east, face the Cumberland Valley to the south. When winds are out of the north or west, face Perry County to the north. Hawks may fly directly above the ridge during any wind and first come into view from the northeast above the trees.

Directions:
Located 10 miles north of downtown Carlisle off Route 74 on the Cumberland/Perry County line. A marked parking lot is on the east side of Route 74, 0.1 miles down from the crest of the mountain on the north side in Perry County.
