Erin Reed Miller grew up exploring the countryside of southeast Pennsylvania before earning her BS in Wildlife Conservation and MS in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Delaware. There she researched the connection between native plant species and insect communities in the lab of Dr. Doug Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home, The Living Landscape, and Nature’s Best Hope. She has since served as an interpretive naturalist and environmental educator in Delaware, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. As the Senior Coordinator for Bird-Friendly Communities, Erin focuses on community greening projects for birds, wildlife gardening workshops, the MD/DC habitat recognition program, and work to reduce collisions, in coordination with Lights Out Baltimore. Since 2011, Erin has been a part of the Patterson Park Audubon Center team, serving initially as Educator and later Education Manager, and has helped to increase bird-friendly habitat across the state and connect neighbors of all ages and backgrounds with nature in ways that are meaningful for them. In 2016, Erin was named the Tamar Chotzen Audubon Educator of the Year.
